So Color Theory.... starting to find the HW... fun

So Finally we can stop painting small swatches of color ( Its a lie we still have a few more to do) and finally paint something. So if you gonna do a hw assignment you might as well have fun with it... Just as long as you still meet the requirements. So here are my studies in Warm and Cool Black and White Objects ( Well the professor argued my white aren't white and I can't deny that oh well)

I'm not Dead! Here's some new work

Yeah haven't posted a dam thing all summer... really had no excuse for that. All I can say is sorry and I will promise to post more often. Well this is going to be my final year in college, which means this is going to be the busiest and stress ridden year of my life thus far. Not only do I have color theory this year; I have to do my BFA show on top of that. (Anyone who has been in the NJCU art program would know how fucked I am). Well there is enough time in the week to get all this done I just have to use them wisely.... which at the moment I am still improving upon.

So what have I been up to, Well this Monday there is going to be a small gallery show with work done in a special project class last semester and I was in that class. Illustrator William Low taught our class both digital and traditional painting techniques and we had to come up with a piece that illustrates a particular subject. The subject was Ellis Island and we had free rein and what we wanted to do. This is what I did.

18"x24" oil on masonite board

All in all it came out well enough. I enjoy the piece and quiet proud of it. Don't really work in oil (drying time and what not can be annoying to me) but I tried out this new water soluble oil paint (yes it exist) and I must say it works pretty well and less messy.

She Better Give me an A

It was either this or a 10 page mythology paper... I chose the painting, This was a quick fix and I liked how it turned out. Yes I know the anatomy is off esp that leg , hard to remember when your doing things last minute which i need to stop. Sleeping Cyclops gouache on illustration board

Batman Rogue Gallery: Great White

I love Batman but was never able to keep track with the comics. This new villain was one of those I had to go to prison to become a criminal. Well in his case it was I had to go to Arhkam to become insane. That is pretty much his story, he pleaded insane instead of going to prison but as we should know Gotham is the worse place to be sent for insanity. a few run in with the local and a night in Mr Freezes cell left him more or less the shark he is now

Dwarves drink Ale

Remember that sketch a started well this is how it is going thus far

 laying the basic color
making some adjustments, I tend to draw heads a bitter smaller than they should be so fixing it on photoshop makes it easier, decided on showing more of the arm
what I am currently working on, didn't like the position of his left arm so I tweaked it and fixed started redrawing his right hand.

Still not asleep yet

What can I say I have class at 12 tomorrow no need to go to sleep early, also help I took a nap as soon as I got home so yeah my sleep schedule is weird. Still painting my image, it is closer to finish I think....

taking a break doesn't mean I'm not drawing

So I was just taking a break from the drawing you saw in my previous post (mess with some for too long you either go crazy or mess it up) I decided to draw something for fun and next thing I knew it found my next project.

Since I haven't really haven't post my personal work you don't really know what I like drawing. I want to do fantasy illustration so you get stuff like this.

Yep still posting: Elias Island Special Projects (oops meant Ellis Island... whatever)

Hey still alive and posting, This semester I enrolled in a special arts class that was only available this semester. The instructor is William Low a very talented painter and illustrator  you can check out his work . What makes this special is while he teaches us his techniques in both the digital and traditional media students get work on pieces based on a central subject matter. The subject is Ellis Island at the end of the semester we will have a body of work that will have its own show ( we have no idea where could be just a school show or whatever). So here was our first assignment

First assignment was to use a reference picture he supplied and recreate the image on photoshop. I have always wanted to use photoshop but ended up getting overwhelmed by all the bells and whistles. I have learned a lot of practical tips and tricks that helped remove all the smoke and mirrors I couldn't see  This was good assignment that got me out of the shell.
